Upon arrival at the jetty, leave your belongings safely stored in provided boxes or on hooks if it’s raining. A member of staff will greet you here, ready to provide instructions and issue any necessary items like tow floats, which are compulsory. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request for an additional £10 but are not kept at the site. The jetty is compact, so plan to change quickly or arrive in your swim gear. During summer months, you can earn badges such as "My First Swim" and "Swim Through Winter" adds a badge option specifically designed for colder weather. The swimming area features buoys marking circuits of approximately 400 meters each. These markers help swimmers navigate the lake safely; however, avoid shallow areas noted by blue buoys near the shore to prevent getting tangled in fishing lines. Bright-colored hats are recommended for visibility and safety. Facilities include parking at Wyresdale Park with additional overflow spaces available beyond the main entrance. The Applestore Café is nearby for refreshments, along with outdoor toilets behind it and indoor facilities within a building adjacent to the café. Changing areas are limited, so plan accordingly by arriving in swimwear or changing quickly near your vehicle. To reach Wyresdale Park from Preston via car, follow Gubberford Lane over Snowhill Lane towards Scorton. Alternatively, bus route 40 from Lancaster Station offers access with a short walk to the venue after getting off at Cabus Gubberford Lane.
