Upon arrival at the jetty, you'll find a dedicated staff member ready to greet you and provide any necessary instructions. Storage boxes are available should you need them in case of rain or inclement weather. Tow floats can be borrowed here for added buoyancy, ensuring swimmers have an extra layer of support during their journey. Wetsuits may be hired by prior request for a fee of £10 but are not kept on site. The jetty is compact and does not accommodate full changing; it's advisable to arrive dressed in your swimwear or change at your vehicle before heading out onto the water. During summer, swimmers can complete various badges such as "My First Swim" or "My First Lap," while winter offers the chance to earn an "I Swam Through Winter" badge. Throughout all seasons, safety is paramount: should you encounter difficulties during your swim, simply lie on your back and raise your arm for assistance from a safety kayaker. The lake boasts clearly marked buoys that guide swimmers around shallow ground used by fishermen; avoid swimming between blue buoys and the shore to stay safe. Brightly colored hats are recommended for improved visibility in winter conditions. Facilities at Wyresdale Park include ample parking, with an Applestore Café nearby offering refreshments. Toilets can be found outside behind the café or inside the building adjacent to them. An overflow car park is also available if needed; follow signs over a small bridge and through a woodland footpath leading directly to the lake. For those traveling by bus, Stage Coach 40 from Preston Station offers convenient access via Cabus Gubberford Lane after approximately 45 minutes.
