Upon arrival at The Jetty, you’ll find storage boxes and hooks available if needed to keep your belongings dry. Staff members will welcome you, provide necessary instructions, and offer tow floats for support during your swim. Wetsuits can be hired on request but are not kept onsite; bring your own or leave them in a vehicle. Swimming circuits of approximately 400 meters each make up the mile-long route around the lake. Be cautious near blue buoys marking shallow ground used by fishermen, avoiding swimming between these and the shore to prevent entanglement in fishing lines. Safety kayakers patrol the area; if you need assistance, raise your arm or use your tow float for support. Facilities at Wyresdale Park include parking spaces and toilets located outside behind The Applestore Café, with additional indoor facilities nearby. Changing areas are not provided, so please arrive wearing swimwear or change in your vehicle before entering the water. For those driving from Preston via A6, take Gubberford Lane over a bridge, then turn left into Snowhill Lane for Scorton village. Alternatively, travel to Lancaster and follow Station Lane past Six Arches Caravan Park; continue up Snowhill Lane to reach Wyresdale Park.
