Swim - Wyresdale Park (15/12)

About the Event

Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and tranquility blend seamlessly for an unforgettable swimming experience. Situated along the picturesque lake, this venue offers a serene setting ideal for both seasoned swimmers and beginners alike.
Upon arrival at The Jetty, you'll find storage boxes available if it's raining or hooks on the fence for your belongings. A friendly staff member will greet you here to provide any necessary instructions and issue tow floats, which are compulsory. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request but aren't kept on site; they come with a cost of £10.
The lake is dotted with buoys during summer months, marking circuits that measure roughly 400 meters each—four laps make up one mile. Swimmers should avoid the shallow ground marked by blue buoys near the shore to prevent getting tangled in fishing lines. If you encounter any difficulties while swimming, simply lie on your back and raise an arm for assistance; safety kayakers are always nearby.
Facilities include parking right outside Wyresdale Park, with additional overflow spaces available beyond the main entrance over a small bridge. The Applestore Café is conveniently located near the lake, offering refreshments after your swim. Toilets can be found behind the café and inside the building to its right.
For those traveling by bus, Stagecoach 40 from Preston Station takes about 45 minutes and drops you off at Cabus Gubberford Lane. Detailed driving directions are also provided for car travelers.
We encourage swimmers to wear swimwear upon arrival or change quickly in their vehicles due to the lack of changing facilities on site. Join us on December 15, 2026, for a day filled with scenic beauty and refreshing water activities at Wyresdale Park.
