Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and swimming come together for an unforgettable aquatic adventure. As you arrive at the picturesque lakefront jetty, leave your belongings safely stored away in boxes or on hooks if it's raining. Here, a friendly staff member will greet you, providing any necessary instructions and issuing tow floats which are compulsory. Wetsuits can be hired by prior request but aren’t available on-site during race day for an additional £10 fee. The jetty is compact, so plan to change quickly without fully dressing here. During the swim, if you encounter difficulties, signal for help by lying on your back and raising one arm; safety kayakers will promptly assist or guide you toward a tow float. In summer months, swimmers can aim to complete badges like "My First Swim" or "Swimming Through Winter." The lake is marked with buoys indicating circuits of approximately 400 meters each. Avoid swimming between blue buoys and the shore as this area contains shallow ground used for fishing lines that could pose a hazard. Facilities include parking near the Applestore Café, where you can find toilets both inside and outside behind it. An overflow car park is available past the main entrance over a small bridge to your left, leading through woodland paths directly to the lake. No changing facilities are provided on-site; arrive dressed for swimming or change in your vehicle. To reach Wyresdale Park by car from Preston, follow Gubberford Lane and Snowhill Lane. From Lancaster, take Station Lane past Six Arches Caravan Park until you turn right up Snowhill lane at Daisy Clough Nurseries. For bus travel, the Stagecoach 40 service to Cabus Gubberford Lane is available. Enjoy your swim in a scenic setting with stunning views of Wyresdale Lake and its surrounding countryside.
