Swim - Wyresdale Park (18/12)

About the Event

Welcome to Wyresdale Park, where nature and swimming come together for an unforgettable aquatic adventure. Located just off Gubberford Lane near Preston, this picturesque venue offers serene lake views and the perfect backdrop for swimmers of all levels.
Upon arrival at the jetty, leave your belongings in storage boxes or hang them on hooks provided if it's raining. A staff member will greet you here to ensure a smooth start; they'll take down your name and provide any necessary instructions. Tow floats are available for borrowing, adding an extra layer of safety during your swim.
Wetsuits can be hired by prior request at £10 each but aren't kept on-site regularly. During summer months, swimmers have the opportunity to earn badges like "My First Swim" or "Winter Swimmer." The lake is marked with buoys for circuit swimming; four circuits make up a mile around this serene body of water.
Safety kayakers patrol the waters and are ready to assist if you need help. Remember not to swim between blue buoys near shore, as these mark shallow areas used by anglers where fishing lines may pose hazards.
Facilities include parking at Wyresdale Park or an overflow car park accessible via a small bridge and woodland footpath leading directly to the lake. The Applestore Café offers refreshments nearby, with toilets located behind it for your convenience. Changing facilities are limited; please arrive in swimwear or change discreetly inside your vehicle.
For those traveling by bus, Stagecoach 40 from Preston Station will drop you off at Cabus Gubberford Lane after about 45 minutes. Detailed directions to Wyresdale Park can be found on their social media pages for further guidance and updates.
Enjoy the tranquility of Wyresdale Lake as you immerse yourself in this unique swimming experience, surrounded by natural beauty and supported by a welcoming community.
