The lake features clearly marked buoys in summer months that designate a circuit roughly 400 meters long; four circuits make up one mile of swimming. Swimmers must be cautious around the blue buoys near shore, as these mark shallow areas used by anglers with fishing lines. Wetsuits are optional but recommended for colder temperatures, and bright-colored hats can improve visibility. Facilities include parking at Wyresdale Park's main entrance or an overflow lot accessible via a small bridge and woodland path leading to the lake area. The Applestore Café offers refreshments nearby, along with outdoor toilets located behind it and additional indoor facilities on site. For those traveling by car from Preston, follow Gubberford Lane over the bridge, then turn left into Snowhill Lane for direct access to Wyresdale Park. Alternatively, bus route 40 from Lancaster Station provides a scenic journey through Cabus Gubberford Lane before reaching your destination.
