Swim - Wyresdale Park (29/11)

About the Event

Set against the tranquil backdrop of Wyresdale Park, this unique open water swim offers participants an unforgettable aquatic adventure. The starting point is the picturesque jetty where you'll be greeted by friendly staff who will provide necessary instructions and issue safety guidelines.
Swimmers are required to bring their own tow floats for added buoyancy and visibility; wetsuits can also be hired on request, though they must be pre-booked due to limited availability. The lake's calm waters stretch out before you, dotted with buoys that mark a 400-meter circuit path—perfect for swimmers looking to complete laps or earn their "I Swam Through Winter" badge.
Safety is paramount during the event; dedicated kayakers patrol the water and are ready to assist if needed. The lake’s far shore features blue buoys marking shallow fishing areas, so it's important to avoid swimming between these markers and the shoreline for your safety.
The park offers ample parking near the main entrance, with an overflow lot accessible via a woodland path leading directly to the swim site. While there are no changing facilities on-site, swimmers can arrive in their swimsuits or change quickly at their vehicles before heading down to the jetty.
After your refreshing dip, head over to the Applestore Café for refreshments and rest—located conveniently nearby with toilets both inside and out. The café is a great spot to socialize and share stories of your swim experience.
For those traveling by bus from Preston, Stagecoach 40 offers convenient service stopping at Cabus Gubberford Lane, which drops you off just minutes away from the park entrance. For car drivers heading north on A6 towards Lancaster, follow signs for Snowhill Lane to reach Wyresdale Park directly.
Join us in November and immerse yourself in this serene natural setting that promises a memorable swim experience.
