Essex 20 - Essex County Road Running Championships

Discover the Essex 20, an annual road running championship that takes place each March, offering runners a perfect warm-up before marathon season. This prestigious race is open exclusively to athletes affiliated with England Athletics who are members of participating clubs.
To secure your spot among the competitive field at Debden Airfield in 2027, you must provide proof of affiliation and club membership when registering. The venue features a meticulously designed 5-lap course that winds through the former airfield’s flat terrain, boasting smooth tarmac surfaces with no sharp turns to hinder your pace. Encircled by lush greenery, this setting ensures minimal wind resistance on most days, allowing runners to focus solely on their performance.
For those aiming for county championship glory, a password is required during registration and can be obtained from your affiliated running club or directly through the Essex Road Race Secretary at [email protected]. The race promises an exhilarating challenge with top-tier athletes vying for supremacy in this 20-mile event.
In addition to the competitive spirit, participants have the opportunity to support a worthy cause by raising funds for Alzheimer's Research UK through their run. Every step taken contributes not only to personal achievement but also towards advancing research and care for those affected by dementia.
Whether you're chasing personal bests or contributing to an important charity, the Essex 20 offers a memorable experience in one of England’s most scenic running locations.
