About the Event

Immerse yourself in the historic yet innovative atmosphere of Bath with the Two Tunnels race. This unique running experience offers participants an exclusive journey beneath the surface, cutting through the heart of one of England's most picturesque cities.
The Somerset & Dorset Railway ceased operations in 1966, leaving behind two remarkable tunnels that lay dormant for decades until a dedicated group and community efforts brought them back to life. The Devonshire Tunnel stretches an impressive 408 meters, while the Combe Down Tunnel extends even further at 1672 meters – making it one of the longest underground sections available in UK races.
Running through these tunnels provides not only a sense of adventure but also a break from the city's hilly terrain. Both tunnels are now well-lit and surfaced for safe passage, offering runners an opportunity to explore Bath’s rich history while staying on flat ground. The experience is enhanced by the presence of other active users such as walkers and cyclists who share this newly revitalized path.
After emerging back into daylight, participants will find themselves surrounded by some of Bath's most iconic landmarks and attractions, providing a seamless blend of urban exploration with historical intrigue. This race isn't just about crossing the finish line; it’s an immersive journey through time and space that celebrates both the past and future of this beloved city.
Join runners from around the world as they navigate these hidden gems beneath Bath's streets, creating unforgettable memories along the way.
