Stour Valley Marathon & Half

Join us on June 20, 2027, for an unforgettable running experience along the Stour Valley Marathon route. This challenging course covers 26.2 miles through picturesque Essex and Suffolk countryside, combining sections of the St. Edmunds Way, Stour Valley Path, and Essex Way.
The event offers a unique blend of self-navigation and well-stocked aid stations at key intervals—approximately every five miles—to ensure runners have everything they need to complete this scenic journey. Runners will navigate using either GPX files or detailed written instructions available for download closer to the race date. The course is designed with both experienced trail runners and those new to off-road racing in mind, ensuring a balanced challenge that showcases the beauty of rural England.
Registration opens at 07:15 AM, allowing participants ample time to prepare before the event briefing begins at 08:15 AM. Competitors will take their starting positions at Nayland Village Hall and set out on an adventure through diverse landscapes featuring tracks, trails, roads, and byways that wind along the Stour Valley.
Cut-off times are in place for both distances—eight hours for the full marathon and four hours for the half marathon—to ensure a smooth flow of runners throughout the day. Aid stations will provide essential hydration and nutrition at key points to keep you going strong through challenging terrain and varied weather conditions.
Parking and toilet facilities are available free of charge at Nayland Village Hall, making it easy for participants to arrive prepared and ready to tackle this unique marathon experience. Remember that while basic entry fees cover race day essentials, medals are an additional purchase made during registration due to the event's cupless nature.
