The Elves 11 Trail Race, set to take place on December 20, 2026, is an off-road adventure that winds through the picturesque landscapes between Maldon and Mundon. Spanning 11 Elvish miles in a circular route, this race challenges runners with diverse terrain, offering a mix of woodland trails and open countryside.
Participants are advised to carry their mobile phones as they will need them for navigation, following written instructions rather than relying on marshals or arrows along the way. The majority (95%) of the course is off-road, providing an immersive experience through natural settings that vary in difficulty and scenery.
The race begins at Maldon Saints Youth Football Club with a flexible start time between 9:00 am and 10:00 am, allowing runners to choose their preferred pace. A well-stocked checkpoint around the halfway mark ensures participants have access to refreshments as they tackle challenging terrain. Upon crossing the finish line back at Maldon Saints Youth Football Club, racers will be greeted with a medal, snacks, and hot beverages.
Organized under permit from The Trail Running Association (permit number TBC), this event emphasizes safety above all else. Runners must ensure their race numbers are clearly visible throughout the course for identification purposes. Additionally, participants should prepare to announce their numbers at the finish line if requested by officials.
Bags can be left in the club hall during the race but at runners' own risk. For those who need to withdraw from the race before December 20, refunds of up to 50% are available until October 21, 2026. After this date and until December 10, transfers can be made but no deferrals will be offered as they impact future event planning.
