Leopard Trail Hike 5 Day 4 Night - 19 October 2027

Immerse yourself in the untamed beauty of South Africa's Baviaanskloof on the Leopard Trail, a five-day slack-packing adventure from October 19 to 23, 2027. This guided and catered hike winds through rugged landscapes within the Cape Floral Region World Heritage Site, offering panoramic vistas over fynbos-covered valleys, hidden kloofs, and dry riverbeds between the Kouga and Baviaans mountains.
The trail presents a mix of steep climbs and descents on rocky paths, covering up to 19 kilometers daily. Despite its challenging terrain, you'll hike with only a daypack as all meals and overnight accommodations are taken care of by your hosts at Cedar Falls Base Camp. Each evening, retreat to glamping huts equipped with bunk beds, or enjoy the solitude in one of Red Cliffs Farmhouse's cozy rooms before embarking on another scenic journey.
The trail is home to elusive leopards; while sightings are rare and they pose no threat, their presence adds an element of wilderness magic. Each campsite features a central kitchen and dining area, braai spots for social gatherings, flush toilets, hot showers powered by solar or gas, and small splash pools fed by pristine mountain water.
This hike is designed to cater to those with good hiking fitness, providing the perfect blend of adventure and comfort amidst one of South Africa's most spectacular natural settings.
