Fat Dog Backyard Ultra

On March 13, 2027, runners will gather at Abbotsford Exhibition Park for the FatDog Backyard Ultra, an inclusive and challenging race that tests both physical endurance and mental fortitude. Starting promptly at 9 AM, participants embark on a grueling journey of 6.7056 km (4.167 miles) laps every hour until only one remains standing. The course winds through the park's parking area and connects to the Discovery Trail and surrounding Clearbrook Park trails, featuring a mix of paved paths, hard-packed gravel, and dirt surfaces.
This event follows the unique Backyard Ultra format where runners must start their next lap exactly on the hour or face disqualification. Each participant sets their own pace, choosing between faster laps for more rest time or slower laps to conserve energy. This strategy-driven race fosters camaraderie among competitors as they push each other towards personal limits over hours and days.
FatDog Backyard Ultra is not just a race; it's an experience that celebrates perseverance and the spirit of competition. Participants have the opportunity to earn spots at future events, including BC Silver Ticket Events or Team Canada consideration for the National Satellite Championships in 2028 based on their performance here. The winner will receive significant cash prizes: $800 (for completing 39 laps) with a $500 assist prize, and $1000 (40+ laps) along with a $700 assist.
Registration is open for the limited capacity of 175 participants at $185 CAD (+GST and UltraSignup Fee). All racers receive exclusive swag as part of their entry. Braving this course in Abbotsford's scenic landscape, runners will not only challenge themselves but also connect with fellow competitors on a deeper level.
Join the FatDog Backyard Ultra community for an unforgettable day filled with determination, friendship, and the pursuit of personal excellence.
