Experience the Bowen Mudder 2026, an exhilarating obstacle race set amidst the lush coastal temperate rainforest of Nexwlélexwm (Bowen Island), the ancestral and unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). This beloved event returns for its fifth year, offering both a 2K fun run and a 5K obstacle course. Participants will navigate through a series of challenging obstacles designed to immerse them in the rugged beauty of Bowen Island’s natural setting. The race begins and concludes at Island Pacific School, where runners are encouraged to embrace the spirit of adventure by dressing up in costumes or team themes. This muddy extravaganza is not only about conquering physical challenges but also supports a worthy cause – raising funds for Island Pacific School's bursary program to ensure accessibility for all students. For those traveling from afar, shuttle bus service will be provided directly from the ferry terminal at Snug Cove following the 8:05 am and 9:20 am ferries from Horseshoe Bay. Participants can enjoy a post-race hot chocolate and snacks donated by the Bowen General Store while cheering on their fellow competitors. The day’s festivities kick off with an energetic group warm-up, setting the tone for a morning filled with laughter and determination as participants tackle obstacles like mud pits, cargo nets, and balance beams. The 5K race will start first, followed by waves of teams participating in the shorter 2K fun run. Competitors can look forward to prizes awarded to top finishers in both age categories (under 18 and over 18) for the 5K event. Additionally, awards are given out for best costume and team spirit, encouraging participants to bring their creativity and enthusiasm to the course. Post-race, runners will have access to a variety of services including hot beverages from Medicine Wheels Food Truck, which offers Indigenous-inspired cuisine in full service mode. Participants can also enjoy a 20% discount at the Bowen Pub with their race bib on the day of the event. Join us for an unforgettable adventure that combines physical challenge, community spirit, and support for local education initiatives. The Bowen Mudder promises to be not just another run but a celebration of teamwork, fun, and giving back.

About Bowen Island
Learn more about the host city, Bowen Island.
Bowen Island is a small island and a municipality at the entrance to Howe Sound, connected to Vancouver and the rest of the Lower Mainland by a short ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver - additionally, private water taxis can be chartered but there are no regular/scheduled water taxi services available. The island has become a favourite tourist destination although amenities and activities are limited. Most activities involve wandering the shops or exploring the parks and natural areas.
