Brokenagan Backyard Ultra

Dive into the rugged beauty of Silver Star Provincial Park for the Brokenagan Backyard Ultra, an officially sanctioned Bronze Ticket event that challenges runners to push their limits one hour at a time. Nestled at 5,500 feet elevation, this race offers more than just distance; it’s about resilience and determination in some of nature's most stunning landscapes.
Runners compete on a meticulously maintained course, featuring Sovereign Lake Nordic Club trails with single-track paths weaving through lush forests and open meadows adorned with wildflowers. Each loop is 4.17 miles long, offering varied terrain including grassy stretches and marshy lowlands, all while passing by the serene waters of a crystal-clear mountain lake.
The Brokenagan Backyard Ultra follows strict international rules: runners must complete each hour-long loop precisely on time or face elimination. With no personal aid allowed during these intense intervals, participants rely solely on their endurance as they navigate through breathtaking scenery and challenging elevation changes. Fully stocked manned aid stations are available from 11am to 3pm to keep you fueled and hydrated with water, Tailwind, GU gels, electrolytes, fruit, snacks, massage services, and an unbeatable team of volunteers cheering you on.
Surrounded by the tranquility of nature yet energized by a supportive community spirit, this event offers more than just physical challenges. It’s about building camaraderie among runners who share a passion for pushing their boundaries in some of Canada's most picturesque settings.
