Zig Zag Challenge

Nestled within Thetford Forest's serene grounds near Brandon, High Lodge is set to host another iteration of its Zig Zag Challenge. This year’s edition offers runners an array of distances—5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon, Heavy Half Marathon, Full Marathon, and Ultra Marathon—to suit every level of experience.
The event takes place on a picturesque 5km loop that winds through the forest's lush trails, offering participants a scenic backdrop as they push their limits. Whether it’s your first official race or you’re aiming for another milestone in your running journey, this intimate setting ensures an exclusive and supportive atmosphere with ample open space to explore.
For those opting for the Heavy Half Marathon, the standard route comprises five laps around the loop, though runners have the flexibility to adjust their distance on the day. Similarly, Ultra Marathon enthusiasts can choose from nine laps as a starting point but are encouraged to extend it up to 12 laps based on availability and personal goals.
Aiding in your race-day experience is a conveniently placed water station at each lap’s end, eliminating any need for carrying extra supplies throughout the course. This event not only serves as an opportunity to test endurance limits but also provides a perfect long run preparation for upcoming Half Marathons, Full Marathons, or Ultra Marathons.
With both 9am and 11am start times available, runners can choose their preferred pace while adhering to the six-hour cut-off time for early starts and four hours for those starting later. The event offers a blend of challenge and comfort, making it an ideal destination for anyone looking to immerse themselves in nature and push personal boundaries.
The Zig Zag Challenge invites all levels of runners to embrace Thetford Forest’s beauty while celebrating the sport's camaraderie and spirit. Whether you're aiming for a new PR or simply enjoying a peaceful day out, this event promises an unforgettable experience amidst one of England's most captivating natural settings.
