Wayout Backyard Ultra 2027

March 26, 2027 marks the unique and challenging Backyard Ultra race around Fort Østerlund in Silkeborg. This endurance test unfolds on a fixed 6.7 km course through natural surroundings, where participants have one hour to complete each loop at their chosen pace. The event continues indefinitely until just one runner remains undefeated.
The format is both simple and relentless: runners who fail to finish within the allotted time are eliminated from competition. With no set end date or limit on duration, this race pushes physical limits while fostering a community of like-minded endurance athletes. Each hour begins anew as remaining competitors start fresh loops, creating an atmosphere charged with tension and camaraderie.
Participants can take advantage of breaks between rounds to rest, refuel, and strategize their approach for the next lap. The event's unpredictable nature means that anyone from casual runners looking for a fun challenge to seasoned ultramarathoners aiming for multiple laps can find enjoyment here.
The race begins with three warning whistles at 3:20, 1:00, and then go! All competitors must remain within the starting field until they are ready. Once underway, athletes rely solely on their own strength and stamina; no outside assistance is allowed along the course.
With a minimum age requirement of 18 years old, this event attracts serious runners eager to test themselves in an ever-evolving race environment.
