Experience the thrill of the Hopper, a unique cycling adventure through the hidden landscapes of Mendocino County, California. Set for May 23, 2027, this inaugural event offers cyclists an exclusive opportunity to explore private property within the stunning Mendocino Redwoods. Cyclists will gather at Todd Grove Park in Ukiah and stage off from there in waves starting at Ukiah High School. The course begins with a challenging climb of nearly two miles over 8 miles before descending into Wolly Pass for those on the Long and Medium routes, or heading to Miller Ridge for participants opting for the Short route. The Mediano route takes riders back towards Ukiah via Masonite Road after reaching mile 16, while the Mero Mero course continues west along this road for an additional 16 miles before turning onto Highway 128. This scenic stretch winds through majestic redwoods and offers a mix of smooth tarmac and serene countryside views. At mile 51, all routes converge at Low Gap Road where riders follow classic dirt trails back to Miller Ridge and the Masonite Rd. The route is open exclusively for registered participants on race day and the preceding weekend with permission granted from private landowners. Participants must adhere strictly to traffic laws throughout the ride as this course traverses both public roads and limited-access private property. Early bird registration opens November 1, 2025, offering a $155 entry fee until March 22, while regular rates of $170 apply from March 23 through May 8. Late registrations cost $185 between May 9 and May 22, with day-of registration available for an additional $20 on top of the standard fees if space permits.
