The King Ridge Grasshopper, nestled deep within the rugged terrain of Sonoma County, is an exhilarating cycling adventure that has captivated cyclists for two decades. This legendary ride combines steep climbs and thrilling descents with breathtaking coastal views, offering a true test of endurance and skill. For this year’s edition, dubbed "The Greatest Hits," participants will traverse some of Northern California's most iconic Certified Ribbon Roads (CRRs), including Joy Road, Coleman Valley Road, Meyers Grade, Fort Ross Road, Kruse Ranch, Seaview Road, and King Ridge Road. Each segment presents unique challenges and rewards cyclists with panoramic vistas that stretch across the coastline. The route is designed to encourage small groups or solo riders to explore at their own pace, rolling out in waves rather than a mass start. The first timed segment begins on Joy Road at 9 am, followed by two additional segments for those tackling the long course, and two shorter segments for participants choosing the short course option. Riders will be scored based on cumulative times across these segments, ensuring an engaging competition while maintaining safety protocols. No timed sections occur on California State Highways to minimize traffic congestion and ensure a smooth experience for all cyclists. The Short Course includes King Ridge Road but follows the same route as the Long Course until its designated start point. Both courses feature aid stations strategically placed along key stretches of road, providing essential support throughout your ride. Registration is now open with early bird pricing available from September 30 to January 17 at $155. Regular registration runs through March 3 for $170, late registration until March 17 costs $185, and day-of registrations on March 20 will be priced at $200. Join the King Ridge Grasshopper in Sonoma County this spring to experience a blend of adventure, exploration, and cycling excellence. It’s an event that perfectly captures the spirit of Northern California cycling culture.
