Bath's Two Tunnels Race offers runners an unforgettable journey through the city’s historic and scenic landscapes, featuring two unique tunnels that were once part of the Somerset & Dorset Railway. The Devonshire Tunnel stretches 408 meters and the Combe Down Tunnel spans a remarkable 1672 meters beneath Bath's bustling streets. This race series includes events ranging from an ultra marathon to shorter distances like the half marathon, 10kms, and even a fun-filled 500m Colourburst event for all ages. The tunnels, now beautifully restored by Sustrans (now known as Walk, Wheel, Cycle Trust) after years of dedicated work, offer well-lit paths with smooth surfaces ideal for runners seeking an intriguing underground experience. The race starts and finishes at Brickfields Park in the heart of Bath, providing a perfect setting to enjoy pre-race festivities or post-race celebrations. Families can relax on-site as children play at the park’s playground while spectators cheer participants along their route. In addition to the thrill of running through tunnels, runners will also traverse scenic routes around Bath's landmarks and parks, making this event not just a race but an immersive journey through history and nature. All participants contribute £1 towards Sustrans' ongoing efforts in maintaining these unique paths, with over £30,000 raised so far. Join us for an experience that combines physical challenge with historical intrigue and community spirit.
