TO50 2027 - Run an Ultra Across Toronto. Finish and It's Free

TO50 is an unorthodox, self-supported ultramarathon that challenges runners with a grueling 50km course through the streets of Toronto. Participants must carry all their gear and supplies for this solo journey, relying solely on their own resources throughout the race.
The event kicks off at dawn from the waterfront, where participants set out along the Martin Goodman Trail, weaving through scenic Tommy Thompson Park before heading into the Lower Don River Trail. The route then transitions to a challenging stretch known as "the Eglinton grind," followed by a finish line on the Humber River Trail.
Runners are provided with a detailed GPS course file ahead of race day and receive mandatory nutrition at the halfway point, but beyond that, they must navigate their way through urban trails and streets independently. The rules emphasize self-sufficiency: no outside support except for hydration and food at the aid station around the 25km mark.
The event is limited to just 75 participants per distance, ensuring an intimate experience. A strict leave-no-trace policy encourages minimal environmental impact while promoting a spirit of camaraderie among runners who must look out for each other’s safety throughout the course.
Cash prizes are awarded in both men's and women's categories with top finishers receiving $300, second place earning $200, and third place getting $100. The race is designed to push participants mentally and physically over a 12-hour window for the 50km route (starting at 7 AM) or an extended 14 hours for those tackling the more ambitious 80km option (beginning at 5 AM).
