Table Mountain Challenge 2027

The Table Mountain Challenge, now in its twenty-third year, invites trail runners of all levels to experience one of South Africa's most iconic landscapes up close. Scheduled for Saturday, September 4, 2027, the race offers three distinct routes: a grueling 42km Toughie circumnavigating Table Mountain on trails with an elevation gain of 1900 meters; a scenic yet challenging 27km Lite route that climbs up and over the mountain before descending through Llandudno's picturesque coastal sections, featuring a significant climb of 1700m; and a beginner-friendly 15km Baby course along Table Mountain’s bottom slopes.
Participants will gather at The Lawns at the Roundhouse in Camps Bay for pre-race registration on Friday from 1pm to 6pm or Saturday morning from 5am to 8:30am, with start times ranging from 6:30am (42km) to 9:00am (15km). The race village buzzes with energy and support as runners set off into the stunning Table Mountain National Park.
The event promises breathtaking views, rugged terrain, and a sense of accomplishment for those who complete their chosen distance by the final cut-off at 5pm. Runners are advised to carry essential items such as water (at least 1.5L), food like energy bars or sandwiches, and a fully charged cellphone. A windbreaker is mandatory, with waterproof jackets recommended if weather conditions warrant it.
The Table Mountain Challenge offers more than just a race; it's an immersive experience that celebrates the natural beauty of Cape Town’s most famous landmark while fostering community among trail runners from around the globe.
