The Sundowner Triathlon returns to Allerthorpe Lakeland Park on September 12, 2026, following its successful debut last year. Building upon lessons learned from previous events, organizers are committed to enhancing the experience for participants and spectators alike. Allerthorpe Lakeland Park offers a serene setting with picturesque landscapes that cater to triathletes of all levels. The park's man-made lake provides calm waters for swimming, ensuring clear visibility in shallow depths between 5ft and 7ft. Cyclists will navigate quiet country lanes around the park and nearby villages on flat terrain ideal for speed and efficiency. Runners can look forward to a spectator-friendly trail course that circles the serene lakeside area. Competitors have several distance options: - Sprint Triathlon: A shorter but challenging route featuring a 750m swim, followed by a 20km bike ride and concluding with a 5km run.
- Olympic Distance Triathlon (Individual & Relay): This classic triathlon covers a full Olympic distance of 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run. A relay option is also available for teams. - 70.3 Half Ironman: For those seeking an extended challenge, the half iron-distance includes a longer swim (1900m), bike ride (90km), and run (21km). The event features comprehensive support services such as mechanical assistance, medical care, race marshals, chip-timed results, well-stocked aid stations, and complimentary photography. Participants can also enjoy free on-site parking, toilets with changing facilities, refreshments at the athlete village. Registration details for 2026 are now available: - Friday, September 11th: Registration opens from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
- Saturday, September 12th: Morning registration runs from 10:30 AM to 12:10 PM for the Olympic and 70.3 distances, with a later afternoon window of 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM for sprinters. All participants must be members or purchase race licenses through British Triathlon before event day.
