Stefnufastur Trail Race

On May 15, 2027, runners will gather at Camp Morton Provincial Park, located just north of Gimli, Manitoba, for an exhilarating day filled with scenic trails and spirited competition. The race offers three distances: a quick 5K, a more challenging 10K, and the full half marathon (21.1k), each featuring custom finisher awards to commemorate your achievement.
The event begins at Camp Morton's main site, where participants will cross a charming wooden bridge before diving into the winding trails of Steeple View Trail and Birch Trail in Camp Morton East. The 5K course is known for its flat terrain and fast pace, with runners enjoying stretches that resemble road running speeds despite some gentle undulations.
For those tackling the 10K or half marathon distances, you'll start by heading north through a straight and beautiful multiuse trail before looping around to pass Camp Morton's Yurts, campground, and main office. The course then takes an exciting turn as it delves into part of the 5K route, weaving along Steeple View Trail and Birch Trail with flowing wide trails that keep you guessing at every corner. A notable feature is a quick ravine drop followed by surprising creek jumps, adding to the adventure.
The half marathon doubles back on itself for two loops of the 10K course, offering runners twice the chance to experience these unique trail features and scenic beauty. Safety services are in place along with stocked aid stations manned by enthusiastic volunteers who will cheer you through your run.
With limited parking available at the park, carpooling is highly recommended. Spectators are welcome to join in the festivities, cheering on racers from the start/finish area or any of the designated points along the course where they can provide support and encouragement.
Registration for this event opens January 30, 2027, with fees set at $70 CDN plus taxes and fees. CAF members and cadets receive a discounted rate of $60 CDN upon proof of enrollment.
