Fight The Couch at Northgate Trails

Embark on an adventurous journey through Northgate Trails, located just ten minutes south of Dauphin, Manitoba, nestled within Riding Mountain National Park. On June 5, 2027, runners will have the choice between a family-friendly 5 km trail walk/run or tackling more challenging distances by running the 8 km loop one to three times for an 8 km, 16 km, or 24 km race.
Northgate Trails offers stunning views of the park's North Escarpment and features diverse terrain including dirt paths, gravel roads, sand dunes, boardwalks, grassy areas, roots, mud, rocks, and more. The course is marked with signage and flagging on your left to guide you through the multi-track and single-track trails.
Race day activities kick off early at 7:00 AM when bib pick-up opens at Selo Ukraina, providing ample time for participants to collect their race numbers before heading out onto the scenic routes. The pre-race meeting starts ten minutes prior to each start time—8:00 AM for the 24 km distance and rolling down through subsequent waves.
Aid stations are strategically placed along the course at Selo Ukraina, serving water, Gatorade, chips, candy, fruit, pickles, gels, and more. This cupless race encourages participants to bring their own reusable cups or bottles for sustainability.
Every finisher receives a medal, while early registrants secure an official Fight The Couch race shirt (or cotton t-shirt). Youth racers aged 17 and under who complete the longest distance in the fastest time will win additional prizes including a futon with frame from Ruffs Furniture and a special blanket.
For those looking to extend their stay, camping is available at Selo Ukraina on a first-come, first-served basis for $20 per night for campers or $10 per night for tents. The Friday Film Festival & Bib Pick-Up event held the evening before race day offers an opportunity to pick up your bib and enjoy films about trails and adventure.
