Kick off your year with an invigorating run along the picturesque River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park. The Phoenix Run, returning for 2027 and featuring Freddie Purrcury as the honorary mascot, offers a flexible experience tailored to all levels of runners, joggers, hikers, and walkers. Whether you're aiming for a quick 5km or pushing yourself through an ultra-distance challenge, this event invites participants to choose their own adventure across multiple laps. The race takes place at Hardy Farm in Chorlton Water Park over seven hours, from registration starting at 7:30 AM until the final finish time of 3:30 PM. Participants can register and begin running between 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, with a window to continue through mid-afternoon for those aiming to maximize their distance. The course follows an off-road trail along the riverside towpath, offering runners stunning views of the Mersey while navigating a flat and fast route that minimizes elevation changes. This terrain is ideal for anyone looking to set personal bests or simply enjoy a scenic run in a serene setting. Aid stations are well-stocked with vegetarian options including bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash, and full sugar cola, catering specifically to those following vegan diets as well as gluten-free requirements. However, participants with severe allergies should bring their own food due to potential cross-contamination risks. Facilities at the race headquarters include toilets and changing rooms for your convenience. Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis at Hardy Farm (up to 75 cars) or across the river at Sale Water Park where additional parking accommodates up to 100 vehicles within a short walking distance from the start line. All participants will receive a bespoke finishers' medal upon completion of their chosen distance. A race brief, mandatory for all runners and available one week before the event date, provides essential information on course details, rules, and safety guidelines. Join us in Chorlton Water Park to experience this unique blend of community spirit, scenic beauty, and personal challenge along the River Mersey. Enjoy a memorable day filled with camaraderie and breathtaking views as you push your limits or simply enjoy the serene surroundings. See you there!

About Manchester
Learn more about the host city, Manchester.
Manchester is a vibrant, post-industrial gem at the heart of North West England. The city that used to be nicknamed 'Cottonopolis' has hung up its clogs and, thanks to successive regeneration projects, is now a major centre for culture and commerce; seen by many as the capital of the north of England, and sometimes regarded as England's second city.
