Immersive walking experience awaits on Fanø, the picturesque Danish island nestled within the Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage site. For the sixth consecutive year, "Over Stok og Steen" invites you to explore this unique natural wonderland on August 28, 2027.
Fanø offers a diverse array of landscapes, from expansive heaths and lush meadows to serene beaches stretching for over 16 kilometers. The island's varied terrain includes pristine sand dunes, marshlands, and the distinctive "Vaden" – exposed mudflats that are part of the Wadden Sea’s rich ecosystem. Along your journey, you’ll encounter a vibrant birdlife, including large colonies of seals.
The walk takes place in two distances: 15 km or 35 km, both offering an intimate look at Fanø's charm and natural beauty. The route is clearly marked with detailed maps provided for orientation. Enjoy the local cuisine and refreshments available along the way as well as professional registration services.
Beyond the nature trails, you’ll also experience charming cobblestone streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses adorned with hydrangeas in full bloom. Whether it's early morning starts at 8:30 AM or later afternoon walks beginning at 10:00 AM, each segment offers a unique perspective of Fanø’s beauty and tranquility.
