The NDW100, now in its 17th year and serving as a qualifier for the prestigious Western States Endurance Run, is an epic journey through some of England's most stunning landscapes. Spanning 160 kilometers (approximately 100 miles) along the North Downs Way from Farnham to Ashford, this continuous trail run challenges participants with over 3,400 meters (about 11,000 feet) of elevation gain. The race starts in picturesque Farnham, nestled within the Surrey Hills. From there, runners traverse through charming villages and rolling hills as they make their way to Puttenham and Guildford. After crossing Ranmore Common, the course ascends sharply up Box Hill, offering breathtaking views before descending into Reigate and continuing on to Oxted via Merstham. At Knockholt Pound, participants reach the 80-kilometer (50-mile) mark just outside Greater London's boundaries. The route then winds through Wrotham and Holly Hill, crossing the Medway Bridge en route to its final leg in Kent. Over the last half of the course, runners encounter trails that weave around villages such as Detling, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, and Charing before descending into Ashford's Julie Rose Stadium for a memorable finish. This year’s event opens for entries on Sunday, September 6th at 7:00 PM. Participants can opt to purchase XCover insurance, providing them with peace of mind in case they are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. The NDW100 offers an unparalleled blend of scenic beauty and challenging terrain, making it a must-do for endurance runners seeking both personal achievement and natural splendor. The race not only tests the physical limits but also immerses participants in the rich history and stunning vistas that the North Downs Way has to offer. With its mix of woodland trails, rolling hills, quaint villages, and historic landmarks, the NDW100 provides an unforgettable adventure for trail runners from around the world.
