About the Event

Challenge yourself on the rugged terrain of the Pennine hills with the Tough Winter 10k, set to take place on January 31, 2027. This hilly race is renowned among runners for its steep ascents and thrilling descents that span across ten kilometres near the Peak District.
The route winds through picturesque landscapes, offering breathtaking views as you climb up winding roads with significant elevation gains. Each ascent tests your endurance and resolve, but every descent rewards you with exhilaration and a sense of accomplishment. The race is not just about pushing physical limits; it's also an opportunity to connect with fellow runners who share the same passion for challenging themselves.
Participants will gather at Meltham Sports and Community Centre on Mean Lane in HD9 5QS before heading out onto the course. Registration opens early, starting at 8:00 am, with last-minute sign-ups accepted until 9:20 am. The race itself starts promptly at 9:30 am.
After crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to a well-deserved prize giving ceremony and refreshments in the clubhouse. Prizes are awarded for first place male and female competitors across various age categories (V40 to V80), as well as team prizes for both genders.
Entry fees vary based on affiliation status: £14 for affiliated runners and £16 for unaffiliated participants. For those looking to up the ante, entering both the Tough Trail in November 2026 and this January’s event can earn you a discount of 20% when booking together by November 30th.
The race is organised with your safety and enjoyment in mind. In case of severe weather conditions that necessitate cancellation, organisers will reschedule for a later date to ensure everyone's experience remains positive and memorable.
Join the ranks of runners who return year after year to face this challenging course, celebrating their achievements alongside fellow competitors at Meltham Sports and Community Centre on January 31st.
