The race starts at Nower on the western edge of Dorking, immediately ascending through charming Westcott before turning onto Wolvens Lane. The ascent continues past Coldharbour's Plough Pub until you reach Leith Hill Tower, a historic landmark offering panoramic views stretching to distant London and the South Downs. You'll run along footpaths and bridleways for an unforgettable experience that tests both your physical limits and mental fortitude.
Upon reaching the summit, runners will face their final ascent up to the tower before retracing their steps back down. The return leg offers a chance to cheer on fellow competitors while enjoying breathtaking vistas once again. Each mile is marked with friendly marshals who provide encouragement throughout this challenging route that includes over 1800 feet of elevation gain.
In addition to its scenic beauty, participants can look forward to several perks such as complimentary local beer and a full English breakfast (vegetarian options available) at the finish line. Other highlights include four water stations strategically placed along the course for hydration needs during your run. The top male and female winners will receive Denbies sparkling wine while second and third place runners are awarded bottles of their renowned wines.
Race day also features an entertaining pre-race spectacle with a UK Wife Carrying Race, adding to the festive atmosphere before you set out on this epic adventure through Surrey’s rolling hills.
