Junior Introduction to Open Water Swimming

Join us for an immersive open-water swimming session at Wyresdale Park on June 7, 2027. This unique experience is tailored to juniors and offers valuable tips from fully qualified lifeguards who will ensure your safety throughout the event. The session starts with a brief chat before diving into practical skills like deep water starts, buoy turns, and drafting techniques.
Participants should come prepared for cold waters by wearing swimwear underneath their clothes since there are no changing facilities available; warm clothing to change into after swimming is essential as well. Bring your own swimming gear including hats, goggles, flops or sandals, and consider neoprene socks for added warmth. Tow floats will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
Ideal swimmers should comfortably manage 100 meters in open water without needing assistance out of their depth. Even those who are less confident can participate with prior notice to the organizers. The event takes place from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, though finish times may vary based on individual progress.
Located at Wyresdale Park off Snowhill Lane in Scorton, Preston PR3 1BA, meet us in the car park opposite the Café for a day filled with learning and fun. In case of adverse weather conditions or poor water quality leading to cancellation, participants will receive either a full refund or an alternative date option.
This event promises not only skill development but also camaraderie among young swimmers eager to explore open waters safely and confidently.
