Swim - Wyresdale Park (15/11)

About the Event

Nestled in the tranquil countryside of Wyresdale Park, this unique open-water swimming event invites participants to immerse themselves in nature on November 15, 2026. The starting point is a charming jetty where you can leave your belongings safely; storage boxes are available for rainy days and hooks line the fence for easy access.
Upon arrival at the jetty, a friendly staff member will welcome you and provide any necessary instructions. Tow floats are provided free of use to ensure safety during the swim. Wetsuits may be hired by prior request for an additional fee of £10 but are not kept on site due to limited space.
The lake offers picturesque views with clear blue buoys marking shallow fishing areas; swimmers should avoid these zones as they could encounter obstacles like fishing lines. During summer months, the venue supports various badge achievements such as "My First Swim" and "Swam Through Winter," adding a sense of accomplishment for all levels.
Safety is prioritized throughout your swim with safety kayakers patrolling nearby to assist if you need help or feel fatigued. Brightly colored hats are recommended to enhance visibility, especially in winter when bobble hats can keep you warm while maintaining clear sight.
For those traveling by car, Wyresdale Park offers ample parking facilities near the main entrance and an overflow lot accessible via a woodland footpath leading directly to the lake. The Applestore Café provides refreshments nearby with toilets situated behind it for convenience. Participants should arrive in swimwear or change at their vehicles due to limited on-site changing options.
Public transport is also available, with Stage Coach bus 40 offering direct service from Preston Station that takes approximately 45 minutes and drops off conveniently near the venue.
