Introduction to Open Water Swimming

Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Wyresdale Park on June 27, 2027, for an introductory open water swimming session designed to acclimate and educate. This evening gathering from 17:00 to 18:30 offers a blend of practical skill-building and safety awareness in a picturesque setting.
Upon arrival at Wyresdale Park’s car park opposite the Café on Snowhill Lane, Scorton, Preston PR3 1BA, you'll be greeted by fully qualified lifeguards ready to guide your journey into open water swimming. Whether you’re an experienced swimmer or just starting out with basic confidence in deep waters, this session caters to a range of abilities.
The park’s tranquil lake provides the perfect backdrop for learning essential techniques such as breathing methods and acclimatization strategies, all while enjoying the calming atmosphere that comes from immersing yourself in nature. Wetsuits are available in sizes S-XL if you prefer extra warmth or buoyancy; however, feel free to bring your own gear like swimwear, goggles, a swimming hat, towel, and warm clothing for post-swim comfort.
Safety is paramount, with first aid support on hand throughout the session. Participants will also receive valuable insights into open water hazards and psychological benefits of this unique aquatic activity. To enhance your experience, consider bringing neoprene socks and gloves if you have them; extras are available but feel free to use what works best for you.
The evening concludes at the jetty with a chance to change back into dry clothes either on-site or in your vehicle before heading home, equipped with newfound knowledge and an appreciation of open water swimming’s allure. This session is more than just a swim; it's an introduction to a rewarding outdoor pursuit that fosters well-being and connection with nature.
In the unlikely event of cancellation due to adverse weather conditions, participants will be offered full refunds or alternative dates to ensure everyone can enjoy this enriching experience under optimal circumstances.
