About the Event

Nestled in Switzerland's picturesque Valais region, the Zermatt Marathon offers runners an unparalleled alpine adventure. This challenging course begins in St. Niklaus and culminates at either Riffelberg or Gornergrat, providing breathtaking views of towering peaks that stretch into the sky. The marathon is renowned for its stunning backdrop, featuring 29 majestic four-thousand-metre summits, including the iconic Matterhorn.
As runners traverse through this scenic landscape, they are greeted with panoramic vistas at every turn. The route winds past alpine meadows and charming Swiss villages before ascending to higher altitudes where the air is thin and the scenery becomes even more awe-inspiring. With each step, participants immerse themselves in a world of natural beauty that makes the Zermatt Marathon not just a race but an unforgettable journey through some of Europe's most spectacular terrain.
The event challenges athletes with elevation changes and technical trails while rewarding them with unparalleled views at every stage.
