Set against the picturesque backdrop of Calderdale, West Yorkshire, the Brighouse Summer Solstice Race offers runners an unforgettable experience along the tranquil Calder & Hebble navigation canal. This charming town is known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant community spirit, which comes alive during this special event. The race features four distances to cater to all levels: a 5k run starting at both 05:30 AM and 06:30 AM, a 10k beginning at 06:30 AM, a half marathon kicking off at 08:30 AM (comprising two laps), and the full marathon commencing at 06:30 AM with four laps. Participants can enjoy an out-and-back course that allows for interaction with fellow runners as you pass each other on your return journey. The canal towpath offers a flat, scenic route lined with lush greenery, making it ideal for those looking to test their endurance in a serene environment. The race organizers ensure that the event is accessible and enjoyable for all abilities by providing ample time within a 6.5-hour cutoff window. Water and feed stations are strategically placed every three miles along the course, offering essential hydration and energy boosts. Marshals stationed throughout provide encouragement and support to keep runners motivated as they traverse the scenic route. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will be greeted with a bespoke Solstice medal and an array of treats including cake and other goodies. Registration opens at 5:00 AM on race day, allowing ample time for parking, checking-in, and preparing before your run. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association to ensure high standards of organization and safety. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups or bottles due to the organizers' commitment to reducing waste during the race. Additionally, while headphones can be worn, large over-ear models that block out external sounds are not permitted for safety reasons. Whether you're a seasoned runner looking to challenge yourself on one of the longer distances or someone enjoying your first 5k at sunrise, the Brighouse Summer Solstice Race promises an engaging and memorable experience. Join us in celebrating the longest day of the year with this unique event that blends tradition and community spirit along the beautiful Calder & Hebble canal path. Please note: Bib numbers will be distributed on-site upon registration.
