Backyard Outland Edition 2027

Backyard Outland Edition 2027 returns on October 9, 2027, to Vaarst-Fjellerad, offering runners the chance to push their limits over either 7 or 12 hours. Participants can choose from two start times: 6:00 AM for the longer journey and 11:00 AM for those seeking a more relaxed pace. Each hour marks the beginning of a fresh 6.7 km loop, totaling up to 80.4 kilometers in the full-day event or 46.9 kilometers if you opt for seven hours.
The course is primarily asphalt with minimal elevation changes per lap—just around 42 meters—and no muddy trails or forest paths to navigate through. The route winds along peaceful roads that are not closed off, so be prepared to share space with occasional vehicles and agricultural machinery while adhering strictly to the left side of the road.
The atmosphere at Backyard Outland Edition is one of camaraderie and support, where runners can encourage each other with a simple "one more lap." The event also welcomes crew members who aren't competing but wish to contribute by cheering on participants or running alongside them for parts of their journey.
Adequate hydration stations are placed throughout the course along with energy drinks, snacks, and meals to keep everyone fueled up for this endurance challenge.
Backyard Outland Edition is not just a race; it’s an experience that celebrates community spirit and perseverance over distance.
