Backyard de Locastel

Backyard de Locastel is an endurance challenge that invites runners to push their limits over 24 hours. The course, which loops around the picturesque Île de Locastel, measures 6.7 kilometers with an elevation gain of 110 meters per lap. Participants must complete a new loop every hour; those who fail to start or finish within this timeframe are eliminated from contention.
The race begins at midnight and continues through until the final lap at dawn on May 8th, 2027. Each participant starts fresh with every hourly restart, ensuring that no matter how far behind one might fall, there is always a chance for redemption and a shot at victory. The only way to secure your place as a finisher is by completing an additional loop or finishing first in the last lap.
Throughout the event, runners will find ample support along the route with hydration stations offering both cold drinks and snacks including sweet and savory options detailed in the runner’s guide. Additionally, there are surprise hot food stops scattered throughout to keep energy levels up during colder hours of the night.
For added fun on the second loop, competitors are encouraged to don an accessory or costume that sets them apart from the crowd. This creative twist adds a layer of camaraderie and entertainment as participants cheer each other on through the challenging conditions.
Registration for Backyard de Locastel opens at 8 PM on October 1st, allowing early birds ample time to prepare for this unique adventure in endurance running.
