2027 AKD Otway Trail Run

Nestled within the lush Otway Ranges, the AKD Otway Trail Run offers runners an unforgettable journey along the historic Old Beechy Rail Trail. Scheduled for March 21, 2027, this scenic race features two distance options: a challenging 16km trail run and a more leisurely 6.3km walk/run that is free for children under ten when accompanied by an adult.
The 16km route begins at Barongarook and winds through cool bushland, with rolling hills and pastoral vistas providing stunning scenery throughout the course. The first checkpoint appears around the 6km mark near Birnam Station, offering a brief respite before tackling more undulating terrain towards Kawarren and finally crossing the finish line at Gellibrand Hall.
For those seeking a shorter adventure, both the walk and run versions of the 6.3km event start from Kawarren and follow the Old Beechy Rail Trail to Gellibrand Hall. The day culminates with an awards ceremony around noon, celebrating top performers while fostering community spirit through fundraising for local health initiatives.
Participants are encouraged to explore further by staying in the Otways after the race, where towering Redwoods, scenic walking trails, and charming country villages await. Transport options include free event buses that must be booked in advance via Race Roster.
