AusBike 1st Gear and 2nd Gear sessions offer young riders the chance to develop their cycling skills in a supportive environment. These Sunday morning sessions, held on October 25th and continuing through November (8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th), are tailored for children at different stages of learning.
For those just starting out or still using training wheels, the 1st Gear session is designed to provide a gentle introduction. Kids will learn basic skills such as balance and control in various locations like basketball courts, indoor halls, local pump tracks, and footy ovals. This program ensures that young riders feel comfortable and confident on their bikes.
Moving up to 2nd Gear, the sessions cater to children who can already start and stop safely but are eager to learn more advanced skills such as hand signals. These classes offer a step-by-step approach to skill development, ensuring each participant progresses at an appropriate pace under the guidance of expert coaches and accredited instructors.
Parents should bring their own bikes and helmets for these sessions, which run from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm every Sunday during the specified dates. Payment is upfront and in full before attending any session.
AusBike aims to instill a lifelong passion for cycling by providing essential skills that ensure safety and enjoyment on two wheels. The program's progressive nature means kids can advance from beginner status all the way to becoming confident, expert riders capable of handling various terrains and situations with ease.
