Williamstown Open Water Swim

On February 28, 2027, the Williamstown Open Water Swim (WOW) returns to the picturesque shores of Williamstown Beach. This iconic event offers three swim distances—1.2km, 2.5km, and a popular 5km option—to cater to swimmers of all ages and abilities.
The centerpiece of this year's WOW is the 2.5km course, which features an exciting beach start followed by an anti-clockwise loop around Rock Groyne. Swimmers will navigate past The Crystal Pool, a beloved local diving spot known for its clear waters and vibrant marine life before venturing into deeper water near the boat harbor.
As swimmers make their way eastward onto the legendary WOW Back Straight, they’ll enjoy the support of cheering spectators lining the shore. With one final left turn, participants will head back to the beach area where a well-deserved finish awaits at the sand-covered arch or feeding station.
Registration for this year's event is now open, and early birds who sign up before January 31, 2027, can secure a complimentary t-shirt. Swimmers are welcome to wear wetsuits but must adhere to the rules prohibiting additional buoyancy aids such as pull buoys or hand paddles.
Organized by the historic Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club, this event is part of the Great Victorian Swim Series and continues its tradition of raising funds for local not-for-profit organizations.
