Canadian Birkie Ski Festival 2027

Join the Birkebeiner Ski Festival 2027, an iconic winter celebration that invites skiers of all levels to experience the thrill of Nordic skiing against breathtaking Canadian landscapes. The festival kicks off on February 12th with a bustling Nordic Fair where participants can pick up their registration packages and gear from noon until 8 PM.
On February 13th, three main race distances await: the challenging 55 km Birkebeiner Tour through pristine snowy trails; the 31 km Leading Edge Physio Birkie Tour for those seeking a more manageable but still scenic route; and the family-friendly 13 km Global Edmonton Mini Birkie designed especially for younger participants. Each event offers unique terrain, from rolling hills to flat stretches, all set against the serene backdrop of winter beauty.
The festival also includes shorter events like the 7 km Birkie Fun Ski, perfect for beginners or those looking for a quick taste of the action. The Viking Feast rounds out the day with traditional cuisine and lively entertainment that captures the spirit of the event’s rich history.
Participants must be at least 12 years old for longer races (with minors under 17 requiring an adult guardian), while the Mini Birkie welcomes skiers from age 8 onwards, also with a mandatory accompanying adult for those under 11. The Barnebirkie registration is handled separately and opens around December 1st.
Whether you’re upgrading your distance or participating in one of the shorter events, make sure to secure your spot early by signing up before December 31st to include insurance coverage. This ensures that if any unforeseen circumstances arise, your entry will be transferred to next year’s event at no additional cost.
