Thirsk 10 2027

The Thirsk 10 road running and wheelchair race returns in 2027, offering runners and athletes an opportunity to compete on a fast and flat course that has been meticulously updated for optimal racing conditions. Known for its speed-friendly layout, the event attracts participants aiming for personal bests (PB) or those looking to challenge their limits alongside fellow competitors.
This year’s race is more than just competition; it serves as a platform to raise funds for two local charities: Herriot Hospice Homecare and Community Works. Participants can secure charity spots by emailing [email protected], contributing directly to the support of inpatient hospice care at The Lambert in Thirsk and enhancing community drop-in facilities.
The racecourse features partially closed roads that have been officially measured by England Athletics, ensuring accuracy for those seeking official records. With a cut-off time set at 75 minutes at the halfway point—equivalent to an overall finish of approximately two hours fifty minutes—the event caters to athletes of varying speeds while maintaining safety standards.
Race day begins early with a fun run for children at Thirsk Racecourse, offering families a chance to enjoy a morning activity before the main race starts. Fun runners will receive chocolate and medals upon completion, adding an element of joy and excitement for young participants.
Participants can look forward to receiving T-shirts as part of their entry fee when they register by February 1st, 2027. Sizes range from XS to XXL; those requiring smaller or larger sizes should specify at the time of registration. Choosing not to receive a shirt will result in a donation made on behalf of each participant.
The race is rich with incentives, including generous prizes for both men and women finishing in the top three overall positions as well as age category awards. Team competition also adds an extra layer of camaraderie among participants.
To ensure everyone’s safety and smooth operations, there are no entries accepted on the day itself; advance booking is mandatory. The race venue at Thirsk Racecourse welcomes runners to arrive early for a seamless start near the finish line area where the fun run will take place before the main event begins.
