Embrace the festive spirit with The Annual Sunrise to Sunset Challenge, now in its 19th year. Held at Shrewsbury's Cycle Track Run, this unique race invites runners of all levels to test their endurance and stamina from sunrise until sunset.
Participants can choose between a variety of distances: 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, or the challenge of an ultramarathon. The event unfolds on a meticulously maintained 1 km cycle track that offers a smooth surface ideal for setting personal bests. Whether you're aiming to push your limits with a marathon distance or simply enjoy a leisurely run in the crisp winter air, there's something for every runner.
The day is filled with live music and an abundance of food and drinks to keep participants fueled throughout their journey. As runners lap around the track, they can collect stamps on their lap cards at each completion, tracking their progress towards their end-of-year goal. The festive atmosphere ensures that no matter how far you run or walk, there's always a cheering crowd ready to support your efforts.
The winner is determined by the runner who logs the greatest distance between sunrise (8:20 AM) and sunset (4:01 PM).
