The River Run

The River Run Half Marathon & 8 Miler returns this August with a fresh venue at Lancing College, offering runners an exciting blend of scenic paths and iconic landmarks. Both the half marathon and the newly added 8-mile race will start and finish within the college's impressive grounds.
Runners can expect to experience a diverse course that includes gravel paths, riverside trails, open countryside, and charming stiles that have become part of the event’s unique character. The Half Marathon route features an early stretch towards Toll Bridge before following the smoother Downs Link trail through Upper Beeding. After crossing the newly built bridge behind historic Bramber Castle, runners will rejoin the riverbank for a scenic return to Lancing College.
To ensure smooth race conditions and ample space for all participants, different start waves are scheduled throughout the day. The Cow Marshal, a beloved fixture of past events, will be back to cheer on runners as they pass through various checkpoints along the route.
Race-day amenities include chip timing for accurate results, professional photography by Pace Line Media capturing every moment from start to finish, and an engaging atmosphere provided by MC Martin Hesketh alongside the South Coast Series soundtrack. Free baggage drop is available near Race HQ, with additional on-site toilets positioned throughout the course.
Participants will also enjoy water stations at various intervals along the route as well as fully stocked aid stations offering gels, fruit, and other race-day essentials. Upon crossing the finish line, runners can look forward to a complimentary post-race drink and snack in the Finishers Marquee, where pre-purchased T-shirts and cups are available for collection.
Spectators will find food and drink vendors along with seating areas within the event village, making it an enjoyable day out for all. With its mix of terrain and stunning scenery, The River Run promises to be a memorable experience as the final race in this year’s South Coast Series lineup.
