THE ODYSSEY MTB

The Odyssey emerges as an unparalleled endurance challenge for mountain bikers seeking to test their limits against one of South Africa's most demanding courses. Scheduled for January 23, 2027, this standalone event is set within the breathtaking Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO-protected natural treasure. Participants can choose between three distinct distances: THE ODYSSEY at 120km with over 2,700m of elevation gain, E ODYSSEY at 70km and roughly 1,800m ascent for e-bike enthusiasts, and LITE ODYSSEY at a more manageable 40km. Each route offers an exclusive glimpse into pristine trails that are opened to the public only on race day.
Riders will face relentless climbs over rugged terrain and thrilling descents through lush forests. The course demands both physical prowess and mental fortitude as competitors navigate technical singletrack and steep gradients. Whether riding solo or in a team of two, participants must master their machines while respecting the natural beauty that surrounds them. For those with an e-bike, managing battery power becomes an integral part of strategy, pushing riders to explore the limits of endurance on electric-powered terrain.
The Odyssey is more than just a race; it's a celebration of mountain biking culture and community in one of South Africa’s most scenic biosphere reserves.
