THE MUNGA 2026

The Munga, South Africa's premier ultra-endurance mountain bike race, challenges riders with its grueling 1,148km course. Spanning from Bloemfontein through the rugged Karoo landscape to Doolhof Wine Estate near Wellington, this non-stop journey tests both physical and mental limits over a span of five days in late November. The route is predominantly off-road, weaving through ancient terrain under scorching summer sun, with water points spaced 60-90km apart. Riders face long nights that are cold yet breathtakingly beautiful.
Despite the solitude—no transfers, stages, or team support—the Munga offers unexpected comfort at five fully stocked race villages where riders can rest on beds or mattresses, eat hearty meals, and receive mechanical assistance from friendly farmers who treat every rider like family. ER24 Medical Support is also available throughout the route to ensure safety.
When participants complete this journey, they earn more than a finish time; they gain an indelible memory of pushing their limits and discovering what truly defines them as individuals. The Munga isn't just about riding—it's about enduring one of cycling’s most iconic challenges.
Registration for this elite event is mandatory on November 24, 2026, with entries available exclusively online at https://themunga.com/munga-mtb/.
