About the Event

On June 13, 2027, runners will gather at Horsell Common in Woking for an exhilarating and environmentally conscious race that celebrates both local heritage and charitable giving. Organized entirely by volunteers who are passionate about their community, the event has raised over £20,000 for various charities since its inception and aims to exceed this amount again in 2027.
The course winds through Horsell Common, a privately owned yet publicly accessible area that includes historic sandpits featured prominently in H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds." Participants will run past these iconic landmarks while enjoying the scenic beauty of the common, which is also designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its rich biodiversity.
Race organizers take great care to minimize their impact on this natural haven by choosing routes that protect local flora and fauna, ensuring that every step taken contributes positively to the environment. This year’s race will be entirely litter-free and single-use plastics are banned, reflecting the event's commitment to sustainability.
The 21k route consists of two laps through Horsell Common’s diverse terrain, offering runners a challenging yet rewarding experience as they navigate sandy stretches and scenic trails. A strict cut-off time for starting the second lap ensures that all participants stay safe while honoring the dedication of race marshals who support them throughout the event.
Join this unique run to explore one of England's most historically significant commons while contributing to important local causes.
