THE DARK: 24 Hours Underground

Experience the eerie allure of The Dark Loop Race, set within the historic Bellevue Underground Mine (BUM) from October 31 to November 1, 2026. Starting at 9:00 AM and running until 8:00 AM on race day due to daylight saving time changes, this unique event challenges runners with a 24-hour, 12-hour, 6-hour, or 3-hour duration.
Venture into the dimly lit tunnels of BUM, where the coal-rich history whispers through the air. The mine shaft stretches for 250 meters, offering a steady 1% grade that tests your endurance. With an average width of about four meters, the passage is spacious enough to accommodate up to four runners side by side—except near the old mine car section.
The race environment maintains a consistent temperature between 0°C and 2°C year-round, ensuring predictable conditions despite the season. As you navigate through the darkness, take breaks at the warming station located just outside the entrance. Here, refreshments will be available to keep your energy levels up throughout the grueling journey.
