Celebrate Zig Zag Running's 7th birthday by joining us at Brandon Country Park for an unforgettable running experience. The park, nestled within Thetford Forest, offers a picturesque setting with its dense woodland and open grass areas.
Participants can choose between two start times: 9am or 11am, allowing you to run as far as your endurance permits during the six-hour window (or four hours for later starters). Each lap covers 5.3 kilometers through varied terrain that includes gravel paths and patches of grass, with a total elevation gain of approximately 61 meters per loop.
The route is designed to cater to all levels of runners, from those aiming at their first official distances like the 5k or half marathon up to ultra-marathon enthusiasts looking for an extended challenge. The standard heavy half marathon consists of five laps, while the ultramarathon typically involves nine laps but can be adjusted based on your stamina and time availability.
Race day will see you starting from Base Camp where you'll collect your bib numbers and leave any belongings safely in a designated area before setting off into the forest paths. Aid stations are conveniently placed every lap to ensure hydration and energy replenishment, making navigation straightforward even for those new to long-distance running.
